Those values trace back to 1949, when Ed Malzahn invented the first compact, ride-on trencher and launched what would become the modern underground construction industry. Built on honesty, hard work, and delivering the best product possible, the Ditch Witch® brand quickly became synonymous with innovation and reliability — and those founding principles still guide us today.

Our History in the Southwest

In the mid-1960s, Giff Glover opened the first Ditch Witch® dealership in the Southwest region of Texas. The dealership later transitioned ownership in 1990 to Jim K. Smith, an Oklahoma businessman who dedicated 40 years to the Ditch Witch® organization. Today, Ditch Witch Southwest is proudly owned by brother and sister Dustin Thane and Ashlee Thane Groves, who continue to build on that legacy with a strong focus on customer relationships and long-term partnership.

Their vision is simple: provide the highest-quality equipment on the market, backed by exceptional service and support that contractors can rely on day after day.
